Thanks to all our participants, volunteers, and sponsors for making this year's sojourns fun and memorable!

The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay 2009 River Sojourns are multi-day expeditions down the Patuxent, James and the Susquehanna Rivers. Thank you for paddling with us down the beautiful rivers of the Chesapeake watershed!

Celebrate June Rivers month with us on two 2009 Susquehanna Sojourns. The River is long. The River is diverse. And it is calling you. The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay partnered with the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership to bring two exciting watershed educational experiences this June.

Kayakers and Canoeists paddled the Susquehanna River with long paddle days on the North Branch Sojourn, stopping to join the Wyoming Valley River Fest or paddled shorter days exploring natural wonders, Native American Petroglyphs, Tuquan Glen Nature preserve and small river towns on the Lower Susquehanna River.

James River Sojourn - July 10 to 14

The James River Sojourn began Friday, July 10 at James River State Park. Kayakers and canoeists of all ages spent the following four days paddling the river and learning about the different cultures surrounding the river.

Patuxent River Sojourn - June 18 to 22

The ninth annual Patuxent River Sojourn explored a section of the upper river, beginning at the Patuxent River 4H Center (Upper Marlboro, MD) with the end destination of Perry Tract (White's Landing Rd). This year, the Patuxent Riverkeeper took the lead in planning this sojourn. Please go to the Patuxent Riverkeeper website for more details.

Patuxent Teen Paddle July 20-24th 4-H Center near Bowie, MD to Patuxent River Park

The Patuxent River Teen Paddle is a five-day(with 3 nights camping) canoeing and kayaking expedition geared towards high-school students. This trip featured educational programming, riverside camping, festive meals, and much more. Novice and experienced paddlers alike enjoyed a unique, on-the-water experience that built a strong stewardship ethic for the river and its natural resources. For more information contact Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary at 410-741-9330.

If you are on Facebook, become a fan of the Alliance! All of the sojourn events are posted on our page on Facebook. There you can communicate with others about the trip and post pictures of your experience! Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay's Facebook Page
