Position: Executive Director
The Executive Director leads the organization, under the guidance of the Board of Directors, and manages a professional staff and a budget of
approximately $2 million to conduct outreach and to initiate and facilitate partnerships and policies that benefit the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The
Executive Director serves as principal spokesperson for the Alliance, overseeing financial management and fundraising activities, providing guidance in the
development and implementation of programs, and serving as primary liaison to the Board of Directors.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership capabilities and be energetic, creative, and goal oriented and should have (1) good knowledge
of Chesapeake Bay policies, issues and programs (2) demonstrated capacity to forge consensus among disparate points of view and the ability to serve as an
articulate spokesperson for consensus based positions (3) a track record of successful fundraising, including foundation and government grants as well as
corporate and private donations and (4) experience with staff, financial and administrative management of non-profit organizations. The successful candidate
will be expected to work effectively with the Board of Directors as well as with funders, members, other organizations, elected officials, agency staff and
scientists.
The successful candidate will have at least a Bachelors degree and 10 years of increasingly responsible positions in comparable jobs.
The Director position is located at the Alliance office in Baltimore, Maryland. The salary is commensurate with experience and includes benefits.
