Why Support the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay?

As a supporter of the Alliance, you'll become a key partner in restoring and protecting the Chesapeake Bay, its tributaries and the land throughout the 64,000 square miles of the Bay watershed.

For over 30 years the Alliance has created and implemented programs focused on cooperative solutions to restore the Bay. The Alliance, one of the most respected organizations dedicated to Bay restoration, continues to occupy a unique role as the only organization in the region focused on improving the Bay watershed solely through collaboration and consensus-building. Your support sustains and enhances critical programs in Restoration, Protection, Public Policy and Communication, Information & Outreach.

You can make it possible for future generations to enjoy a Chesapeake Bay region where children and blue crabs can thrive. We all have a stake in the Bay.

Ways to Help:    

• Become a New Member

  Use our secure online form or print out our membership form and mail it to Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, 6600 York Road, Suite 100, Baltimore, MD 21212, or fax it to 410-377-7144.

  You will be helping the Alliance's mission just by joining. But if you want a more active role, there is always plenty of opportunity to get involved.

• Renew Your Membership

  Our members are the backbone of the Alliance. Your continuing support not only sustains us, but also demonstrates to others the importance of our work. Increased generosity from our members allows us to make progress faster.

• Special Donations

  If you would like to support the Alliance with a special gift in addition to your membership, be assured that your donation will be used to accelerate such programs as: training volunteers, planting trees and Bay grasses necessary to support aquatic life, monitoring water quality, and helping staff reach out to more businesses and key potential partners. Please check our website for Alliance special needs and program descriptions. You may want to designate your gift especially to one or more area.

• Memorials or other Tribute Gifts

  Friends of the Alliance may wish to memorialize loved ones or honor individuals with gifts to support our work. We will send a letter to the person you specify, stating that a gift has been by you in memory of or in tribute to a special person or occasion.

• Planned Gifts

  Donors wishing to ensure the long-term future of the Alliance should consider in their estate planning a bequest, charitable trust, charitable gift annuity, insurance or other planned gift to the Alliance. Planned gifts can have significant tax benefits for donors and their heirs; you should discuss these and other giving methods with your attorney, accountant or other financial advisor. • Sponsorship Opportunities

• Investigate Workplace Giving

  The Alliance is a member of the Environmental Fund for Maryland, a federation of organizations dedicated to preserving, protecting, and sustaining Maryland's natural heritage. EFM arranges with government and corporate employers for automatic payroll deductions to support EFM members. Ask your employer about whether EFM can be an option for your workplace giving, and designate your gift to the Alliance. You may also make a direct donation through United Way, making sure to include the Alliance's name, address, and phone number on your form.

• Matching Gifts

  Your employer may have a matching gift program worth investigating. Most organizations match employee gifts 1:1 or 2:1, thus increasing your gift significantly. Check with your employer's human resources office to see if they will match your gift to the Alliance.

Become a Volunteer to Help the Bay:    

You can also contribute to the Alliance by giving your time to assist in restoration work, water quality monitoring projects, or help at our special occasions such as Alliance member events, festivals or environmental meetings and conferences throughout the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
